Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra

Bristol Beacon, Trenchard St, Bristol, BS1 5AR

Description

Founded in 1973, the Philippine Philharmonic were one of the first Asian orchestras to receive international recognition and are now regarded as one of the finest of all orchestras coming from Southeast Asia.

With their award-winning conductor Grzegorz Nowak, they present an exciting and colourful programme that opens with a new piece by Jeffrey Ching, specially commissioned for this tour, and features some of the greatest classics of the balletic repertoire.

It will also be interesting to hear the orchestra’s interpretation of Vaughan Williams’ ever popular Lark Ascending with soloist Diomedes Saraza Jr. and a performance of Tchaikovsky’s much loved Rococo Variations with internationally acclaimed cellist Wen-Sinn Yang.
